Australian 100 Marathon Club Member
John Zeleznikow started running at age 21 after a childhood crippled by polio & Perthes disease. He didn’t walk until he was 10. In the decades since he has completed almost 200 marathons. His running has taken him around the world with events completed on 5 of the 7 continents.
In 1978 he successfully ran for election to Caulfield City Council. In June 1979 he completed his PhD at Monash University & for six years worked as an assistant professor at three North American universities, during which time he was able to complete many marathons across the US & Canada. While travelling for European mathematics conferences he completed marathons in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland & UK.
