Rheed McCracken is an Australian Paralympic athlete & wheelchair racer who has represented Australia at Paralympic Games (2012, 2016, 2020, 2024) & World Para-Athletics Championships (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2023, 2025).


From 2005 to 2009 he competed in Athletes With a Disability (AWD) events as a teenaged sprinter. Highlights include:

  • 2008 - Queensland 12 & Under Track & Field Championships - first place in boy’s 11 years AWD 100m, 200m, long jump, shot put & discus
  • 2008 - Pan Pacific Games - first place in boy’s 11 years AWD 100m, long jump, shot put & discus
  • 2009 - Queensland Championships - first place in boy’s 12 years AWD long jump, 100m, discus & shot put


He began competing in the T38 wheelchair category in 2010 & made his Australian national team debut in 2011. He finished third at the 2011 Gold Coast Half Marathon & participated in the inaugural elite wheelchair race at the 2011 Sydney City 2 Surf. He won 100m gold at the 2011 International Wheelchair & Amputee Championships in Dubai.


McCracken has since won three silver & three bronze Paralympic medals, as well as seven silver & 2 bronze world championship medals. He has set two T34 100m World Records:

  • 14.92s - Swiss Championships (Arbon, 28 May 2017)
  • 14.80s - Nottwil Grand Prix (Nottwil, 26 May 2018)


McCracken has been honoured with awards including:

  • 2012 - Australian Paralympian of the Year Awards Junior Athlete of the Year
  • 2016 - Sporting Wheelies & Disabled Association Junior Male Athlete of the Year
