Morgan McDonald is a long-distance runner who has represented Australia at Olympic Games (2020, 2024), Commonwealth Games (2018), World Championships (2017, 2019, 2023), World Cross Country Championships (2013, 2015, 2026), World Road Running Championships (2023) & World Junior Championships (2014). He won the Australian 5000m Championship in 2018-18.
McDonald’s collegiate career with University of Wisconsin produced a number of championship wins:
- In 2018-19 he was a 4-time NCAA champion (10km cross country, Indoor 3000m, Indoor 5000m, Outdoor 5000m)
- In 2018-19 he was a 3-time Big Ten Conference champion (8km cross country, Indoor 5000m, Outdoor 10000m)
- In 2016-17 he was a 4-time Big Ten Conference champion (8km cross country, Indoor 3000m, Indoor 5000m, Outdoor 5000m)
- In 2015-16 he won the Big Ten Conference Indoor 3000m.
In January 2025 McDonald ran his debut half marathon in Houston in 1:00:58, the fourth fastest time by an Australian.
